Covid in Argentina: 21 deaths and 3,512 infections confirmed in the last 24 hours

The Government reported today 3512 new infections of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours and in total there are 5,361,967 accumulated positive cases. In addition, 21 deaths were entered into the National Health Surveillance System (SNVS) and the total number of deaths since the pandemic began is 116,792. Meanwhile, those recovered total 5,218,343.

According to the data of the last 7 days, Argentina rose to thirty-sixth position on the list of countries with the highest number of daily infections. This is reflected in an increase in infections of 25% compared to the previous week. The information emerges from the site WorldOMeters, which conducts a global pandemic survey.

For its part, the total of deaths in the last week also registered an increase, with 7 percent more deaths from Covid-19 compared to the previous week. The data leaves the country in the 45th position in the world with the highest number of deaths in a period of seven days. In this regard, Argentina was surpassed by Russia, the United States, Ukraine, Poland, among others.

In this context, according to the National Situation Chamber collated by THE NATION Data, Argentina registered a 61.2% increase in coronavirus infections in the last 14 days. The rate of deaths from Covid-19, however, marked a drop of 18.2% in the last two weeks.

Meanwhile, 704 people had the disease last night in Intensive Care Units (ICU). The occupation of ICU beds, beyond the illness that explains the hospitalization of the patient, at the national level averages 35.0%, while in the AMBA it reaches 37.8%.

It was also reported that in the last 24 hours, 37,958 tests were carried out and 26,723,972 diagnostic tests for this disease were carried out since the beginning of the outbreak.

In relation to the vaccination campaign against the coronavirus in Argentina, the Public Vaccination Monitor shows that, up to now, 71,507,682 doses have been applied in the national territory. Of this total, 37,313,458 correspond to first doses, while 31,134,549 represent people vaccinated with complete schedules.
