Rajkumari ∙ CPM has demolished the protective wall of the Shanthanpara office, which continued construction work despite the Revenue Department issuing a stop memo for violating the Land Use Act and later the High Court banned the construction work. The wall was demolished under the leadership of the party when the revenue department found that the wall was built by an outsider.

The part marked and given by the Taluk Surveyor was demolished. It was found that the building was built on untitled land and the road was occupied.

The District Collector had denied the No Objection Letter (NOC) to the CPM office stating that the construction was for non-domestic purposes and encroachment had taken place in the village where the construction ban is in place. The CPM’s attempt to cool down the issue by demolishing the protective wall is at the end of the months-long controversies related to the construction of the Shantanpara office.

On November 25, 2022, the Revenue Department issued a stop memo against the construction of a multi-storied office building on 8 cents of land in Shantanpara Town in the name of CPM District Secretary CV Varghese. The action was for constructing the building without the NOC of the Revenue Department. But despite this, the construction continued. On August 22, the lawyer of Atijivan Buktavedi filed a complaint in the High Court against the construction of the CPM office in violation of land rules before the special bench that hears land-related cases.

The court heard the complaint and issued an interim order prohibiting the construction work. But the construction work continued that night in violation of the court order. After this became news in the media and the amicus curiae report was given, the Division Bench of the High Court again intervened in the matter the next day.

The court stated that contempt of court action will be taken against the CPM district secretary and ordered that the CPM office in Shantanpara should not be opened until further notice. But the CPM district secretary claimed that the construction was not carried out after the collector issued a letter asking him to stop the construction work.
