© Reuters Crimes with cryptocurrencies will be the focus of anti-corruption group, announces Geraldo Alckmin
CriptoFácil – The Governance Council of the National Strategy to Combat Corruption and Money Laundering (Enccla) of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security will focus on crimes with cryptocurrencies and new technologies in 2024. The announcement was made at the first meeting that brought together members from Enccla on Thursday (17).
According to a statement from the Ministry, the meeting was held with the aim of presenting the themes for the year 2024 and forming the new Enccla Security Council.
The event was attended by the Vice President of the Republic, Geraldo Alckmin, as well as the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Flávio Dino.
Enccla will focus on cryptocurrency crimes
In 2024, Enccla will have two main sources of action: the environment and new technologies. In the environmental case, the agency will supervise and act on crimes that have an impact on the subject, such as illegal mining, illegal mining and deforestation, for example.
Meanwhile, in relation to new technologies, the main theme will be crimes committed through the use of new technologies, such as cryptocurrencies, gamming, monetization, online gambling and cybercrime.
The National Strategy is also preparing a report with washing typologies using new technologies. From the identification of these typologies, the bodies will be able to create methodologies and work routines.
“In addition to general work, Enccla will focus on environmental crimes, cryptocurrencies and money laundering. There is also a relationship with the competitive disloyalty that is created in the economic sector, something very bad. In other words, it is an important job”, said the Vice President of the Republic, Geraldo Alckmin.
Minister Flávio Dino also highlighted that there is a special concern with money laundering:
“President Lula wants the government to mobilize to combat money laundering. Today’s event complements the practical actions that the Federal Police and other Justice bodies are undertaking”, defined Dino.
