Criticism of Vijay: Removed by High Court

Chennai: The Chennai High Court has ordered the removal of criticisms leveled against actor Vijay in a case related to payment of tax on luxury car imports.
In 2012, actor Vijay imported a Rolls Royce luxury car. After filing the import tax, Vijay filed a case in the High Court seeking an injunction restraining the Regional Transport Office from levying entry tax. The High Court dismissed the case and imposed a fine of Rs one lakh.
Actors must pay taxes properly and be ‘real’ protagonists; Vijay had appealed to the High Court against the imposition of the fine and to remove the criticisms contained in the order.
For the order imposing the fine, the two judges adjourned the session. Meanwhile, Vijay paid Rs 32.30 lakh as entry tax. The appeal was heard by Justices Pushpa Satyanarayana and Mohammad Shafiq. Since it cannot be said that he acted with intent, the judges ordered the removal of the negative comments made in the order of the separate judge regarding the actor Vijay.
