Islamabad: A media activist who criticized the government was arrested in Pakistan. ARY News Senior Executive Vice President Ahmad Yusuf was arrested on charges of sedition. The government also stopped the transmission of the channel. The channel was banned by the government for airing anti-national content.
Yusuf was arrested by the police in the morning. The police barged into the house without even a warrant and forcibly took Yusuf away. Local media reports that the police team destroyed the CCTV cameras in the house. After the arrest, the government banned the broadcasting of the channel.
Earlier, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority had issued a notice to the channel for criticizing the government. It is after this that the government takes measures including arrests.
