Chennai will be looking for their first win in IPL today. Chennai will face Lucknow Super Giants in their second match. In the first match of the season, Super Kings lost by five wickets against Gujarat Titans.
In the last game, Chennai scored 178 runs at the loss of seven wickets thanks to Rituraj Gaikwad’s firework. Rituraj, who unfortunately missed out on a century, entertained the crowd with 92 runs off 50 balls including four fours and nine sixes, while captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni also struck in the last overs and proved that his talent has not faded.
With a target of 179 runs for Gujarat, openers Gill and Wriddhiman Saha got off to a good start. Dhoni and his team were able to put pressure on Gujarat in the last overs but the victory was with Gujarat. It is a relief for Chennai that the match will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium where the role of spinners is important.
Chennai can also field an extra spinner against Lucknow. It remains to be seen who will get the opportunity in the absence of Sri Lanka’s Mahish Tishkhana for the first three matches. On the other hand, KL Rahul-led Lucknow Supergiants had a huge win against Delhi Capitals on Saturday. Delhi Capitals were defeated by 50 runs.
