The judges stated that the religion of the “Cannabis Church” has no relation to the supersensible, does not deal with existential questions and has no understandable ethical program.
The court also doubted the seriousness of the applicants. There was much evidence that their real interest was in using cannabis as an “aid to prayer,” the court said.
Possession of cannabis can be punished in the Czech Republic, although in practice possession of small amounts is often not prosecuted. The plant can also be prescribed for medical purposes.
