Dammam-Khalidiya Gold Cup Football Fair, organized by Khalidiya Sports Club, the leading expatriate football club in the Saudi Eastern Province, will begin on Friday. The organizers announced in a press conference that the football fair will be staged in collaboration with the Dammam Indian Football Association (DIFA).
The 14 major teams registered in Defa will be replaced in the one and a half month long elevens football fair held in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of Lib. The organizers announced that prominent players from the country and other Gulf countries will wear jerseys for various teams at the football fair held at the Altaraj International Stadium on Jubail Highway, Dammam.
Naval Cold Store and YY Noodles are co-sponsors of the football fair titled The Winter Heat. The opening day will feature three matches between Phoenix FC and Khalidiya Sporting, EMF Raqqa and MUFC and IMCO and Jubail FC. The winners and best players of the tournament will be awarded with trophy and prize money.
Organizers said that since the club’s inception, it has been possible to create a systematic structure for expatriate football associations in Dammam. Khalidiya has also been able to play an active role in the formation of the Dammam Indian Football Association. The organizers explained that the academy has been able to bring up the best players in the past along with providing training to around 100 children in the academy for children under the club. DFA President Mujeeb Kalam, Deema Tissue Representative Muhammad Rafi, Tournament Committee Convenor Zakir Palakkad Chairman Mansoor Mankada Coordinator Razik Vallikunn, Jo. Convener Sameer Al Huth and others participated in the press conference.
