Daniel Alves will be heard by magistrates during his trial this Wednesday (7), in Barcelona. Technical evidence will also be presented and final considerations will be made. After the end of the hearings, there is no prediction for sentencing and the player will remain in preventive detention. The full-back has been detained since January 20, 2023. To the magistrates, Alves will present the version that he was drunk at the nightclub, in Spain.
On Tuesday (6), 19 people were interviewed. Daniel Alves’ wife and two of the player’s friends said that, on the day of the incident, he was drunk. According to the defense, Alves was drunk and out of his mind. On the first day of the trial, the victim was heard and stated that she was raped.

What will the third day of trial be like?
All experts will deliver reports and conclusions of the case. Forensic doctors, coroners, members of the scientific and biological police and fingerprint experts will take a position.
Psychiatrists and psychologists who had contact with the complainant were also summoned to the session.
Finally, after a request to the body of judges last Monday (5), the player will give his version of what happened at the Sutton nightclub on December 30, 2022. Between the accusation, arrest, complaint and trial, Daniel Alves will present a different fifth version of the facts.
The player denies the accusation of sexual assault, claims that the relationship was consensual and that he was drunk. The defense relied, a day earlier, on the testimonies of witnesses such as two friends of the player and Daniel Alves’ wife, the Spanish model Joana Sanz, who confirmed the athlete’s drunkenness. The intention, in case of conviction, is to try to mitigate the player’s sentence, which could be sentenced to up to 12 years in prison, the maximum penalty for a sexual crime. The Spanish Public Prosecutor’s Office is asking for a 9-year prison sentence for the player.
