TVN in Chile adjusted its programming Monday due to breaking news: the arrest and initial court appearance of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in the United States. The shift in coverage led to a public dispute between the network and entertainer Daniel Fuenzalida, who claimed a headline misrepresented the situation.

Fuenzalida Disputes Report of Program Cancellation

The Chilean personality took to social media to clarify that his show, “El Mediodía,” wasn’t simply “taken off the air,” but rather preempted by extended coverage of international events.

  • The change in TVN’s schedule was prompted by extensive reporting on Nicolás Maduro’s arrest and legal proceedings in the U.S.
  • Daniel Fuenzalida publicly objected to a headline suggesting his program was canceled, stating it was a programming adjustment.
  • Fuenzalida’s recent departure from Radio Activa and a public disagreement with former colleague Rosario Bravo have also kept him in the spotlight.
  • The network opted to extend its “Hola, Todos” program to cover the Maduro story.

Fuenzalida addressed the issue after a report published by La Hora stated, “TVN took Daniel Fuenzalida’s program off the air this Monday: why they didn’t show El medio día.” He responded on Instagram, questioning the need for what he called a “malicious headline.”

“I don’t want to sound presumptuous, but so many clicks to put a malicious headline?” Fuenzalida wrote. “An insidious headline! Really let me go!” He further asked, “What have I done to them for so much media harassment and bad vibes?”

He explained that “El Mediodía” wasn’t canceled, but rather replaced by expanded coverage of the Maduro story. “We did not go on the air for the international news,” he clarified, adding that his show is “more of a magazine” format, leading the network to prioritize “Hola, Todos” for the breaking news event.

“What’s wrong with it?” he questioned, concluding with a plea for “Enough of the bad temper.”

Recent Scrutiny for Fuenzalida

This incident comes as Fuenzalida has recently faced increased public attention. His departure from Radio Activa was reportedly linked, in part, to a conflict with his former partner, Rosario Bravo, who publicly criticized him on social media in recent days.

Following Fuenzalida’s statement, the outlet that published the initial headline removed the post from its social media accounts.
