President Noboa, after touring the provinces of Azuay and Cañar, calls on the Assembly to approve the fifth urgent economic bill.

President Daniel Noboa announced the delivery of USD 24.2 million for the Cuenca Sustainable Urban Mobility Program. Thus, the city will have 20 kilometers of cycle paths, with all their facilities and connections, and 30 public bicycle stations.

The intervention area includes Huayna Cápac Avenue, Coronel Talbot Street, Héroes de Verdeloma Avenue and Calle Larga, in the Historic Center of the capital of Azuay, reported the Secretariat of Communication. In addition, electric buses and adequate streets will be implemented, with exclusive lanes for the circulation of public transport and space for pedestrians.

According to the Government, the Sustainable Urban Mobility Program makes Cuenca the first city in the country to develop a project of this magnitude. “Cuenca is going to be key for the province of Azuay and for Ecuador.

The entire country will be supporting Cuenca, which will be a showcase for the world,” stated the Head of State. President Noboa explained that the total cost of the work is about USD 29.2 million, which includes financing from the Development Bank (BDE), with support from the German Development Bank through debt exchange; and the contribution of the GAD of Cuenca.

Of the amount managed by the National Government (USD 24.2 million), about USD 10 million is non-refundable. During his speech, the President also urged the assembly members to adequately address the Urgent Economic Organic Law Project for the Strengthening of Tourist Activities and the Promotion of Employment so that its approval benefits this sector.

Meanwhile, in the canton of La Troncal, province of Cañar, Noboa delivered 200 social interest homes, 100% subsidized by the State, which benefits 915 people, including 524 girls and boys. The project started under the previous Government.

The urbanization called La Troncal had an investment of USD 4.7 million and generated 722 jobs during its construction, according to the General Secretariat of Communication.

The space has green recreation areas, a community center, walkways, parking lots and a site for internal commerce with the ventures of the new community that is being consolidated in this sector. The Ministry of Housing has a fund of USD 190 million for housing credit, under favorable conditions.
