The sports streaming platform announced on Wednesday the free broadcast of a large part of women’s football.

The sports streaming platform DAZN, which is eyeing TV rights to the French Ligue 1, will broadcast a large part of women’s football for free, in particular the rest of the 2023-24 Champions League, the “Netflix of sport” announced on Wednesday. After two years of free broadcasting on its YouTube channel, DAZN decided to make most matches pay for this season, but therefore decided to return to free access.

DAZN, rights holder of the Women’s Champions League since 2021, is calling on stakeholders to “come together to make women’s football commercially viable and sustainable”. “DAZN’s paywall will be lifted on women’s football to increase the audience and accelerate its growth,” explains the platform in a press release.

The 5th and penultimate day of the C1 group stage is scheduled for January 24 and 25. The German Bundesliga, Spanish La Liga, Saudi Women’s Premier League will also be broadcast for free. On the other hand, the two D1 Arkema posters, co-broadcast with Canal+, are not affected by free access, just like the United States championship, the NWSL.
