Explosion at Firecracker Factory in Ariyalur District; 10 Dead, Several Injured

Ariyalur, a district in Tamil Nadu, witnessed a tragic incident this morning as a firecracker factory in Viragalur village experienced a massive explosion. The factory, named Jaffa and Co, had been in operation for the past 15 years under the ownership of Rajendran, who hails from Thirumanoor.

The factory was managed by Rajendran’s son-in-law, Arun Kumar, aged 35. As the festive season of Diwali approached, the production of country crackers was in full swing at the facility.

The explosion took place unexpectedly, resulting in the devastating loss of 10 lives. Additionally, 13 people sustained injuries in the incident. Among the injured, six were admitted to the Thanjavur Medical College Hospital for medical treatment. Sadly, one of the injured individuals succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

Following the incident, a case has been registered against Rajendran and Arun Kumar, the owner and manager of the firecracker factory, respectively. The Keezapapur police have filed charges under four categories, including accident, endangering life, and possession of dangerous explosives.

Upon learning about the case being filed against them, both Rajendran and Arun Kumar voluntarily surrendered themselves at the Geezapapur police station in the presence of their lawyer, Muthukumar. The Keezapapur police are currently conducting an investigation into the cause of the explosion.

The explosion at the Jaffa and Co firecracker factory has shocked the entire Ariyalur district. The local authorities are working to provide support to the affected families and ensure that such incidents are prevented in the future.
