Chennai: The Chief Minister has ordered a compensation of Rs 3 lakh to the family of the student who died after consuming an overdose of nutritional pills.

In this regard, Chief Minister M.K.Stalin, in a press release, said, “On 6.3.2023, 4 female students and 2 male students of Uthakamandalam Municipal Urdu Middle School in West village of Uthakamandalam circle, Nilgiri district, were ill due to taking too much of nutrient tablets. Out of these 4 girls were sent to Coimbatore for further treatment. I was deeply saddened to hear the news that a student named Jaiba Fatima, Dr. Mohammad Salim, died on the way to Chennai for advanced treatment after being admitted to the government hospital.

Also, in this incident, I have advised Nasajiya, Ms. Jayaullah, Ayesha, Ms. Sarbuddin, and Kultun Nisha Ms. Mohammad Hussain, who are undergoing treatment at Coimbatore Government Hospital, to receive special treatment. My deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased student. I have ordered to give three lakh rupees to the family of the deceased student, one lakh rupees each to the students who are undergoing treatment, and provide financial assistance from the Chief Minister’s General Relief Fund,” he said in the statement.
