In order to educate the public against the use of drugs in Kuwait, the Ministry of Interior has launched a special exhibition called ‘CLOSER THAN YOU THINK’ at Avenues Mall in collaboration with various NGOs. The exhibition, which started on Monday, will conclude on Thursday.

Major General Tawhid Al-Kandari, Director General of the General Department of Relations and Security Media at the Ministry of Interior, who inaugurated the exhibition, said that the Ministry of Interior is working tirelessly to spread social awareness on the issue of drugs. In the exhibition, a group of artists under the Cartoon Society defend against the social menace of drugs through caricatures. More than 25 artists participated in the exhibition with around 60 paintings.

Tawheed Al Kandari urged parents to inform the relevant authorities about their children who are drug users and addicts without concealing it as a criminal offence. In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the use and sale of drugs in the country. In the month of August alone, 500 kilograms of narcotic drugs were seized by the Drug Control Department and Customs from various places. Interior Minister Sheikh Talal Al Khalid has instructed officials to ensure treatment and rehabilitation of drug-addicted children instead of taking criminal cases.
