THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government is considering restricting direct recruitment to the dependents of those who die while in government service only to those who can accept the job within one year. The implementation of the new recommendation in this regard will be discussed with the service organizations in a meeting to be held by the Chief Secretary on the 10th.

The High Court ruled that dependent appointments should be made only in five percent of the vacancies that occur every year in each post. Accordingly, there will be delay in making the dependent appointment and not all the applicants will be able to be appointed. To remedy this, the appointment is restricted to those who agree to accept the appointment within one year of the death of the government official.

It is also recommended to pay ten lakh rupees as a consolidated amount to those who are unable to accept the job under the new arrangement. The Chief Minister had directed the Chief Secretary to hold discussions with the service organizations and submit proposals on these issues. It is in this situation that the meeting is held on the 10th.
