The Spanish Food Safety Agency (Aesan) has launched this Saturday, April 29, a new food alert relevant to the people allergic to mustard.

Specifically, the body has warned of the presence of traces of mustard in organic flax seeds from Türkiye. These seeds are from the Ecosana and Too Bio brands that are marketed in different formats and sizes.

Distribution of contaminated seeds

The Aesan has received this information through the Coordinated System for Rapid Information Exchange (SCIRI) by notification of the health authorities of Castilla y León. The presence of traces of mustard in these products not included in the label Therefore, it poses a risk to the health of allergy sufferers.

Contaminated flax seeds are known to have been distributed in Canary Islands, Andalusia, Aragon, Community of Madrid and Valencian Communityalthough Aesan does not rule out that they have been sold in other communities, so it recommends that people check their pantries.

In this sense, all people allergic to mustard are advised not to consume the products. Likewise, the Aesan specifies that this product does not carry any risk to the health of non-allergic people.
