Karaikudi: Sethu Bhaskara Agricultural College and Research Institute is functioning as an affiliated college of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore.

The college is functioning in Visalayan Fort, Karaikudi Taluk, Sivagangai District. The management of this college said: It is functioning under Sethu Valliammal Education Trust. The college is working with the aim of fulfilling the needs of farmers belonging to Sivagangai district, development and social progress of the people. Chancellor Dr. Sethu Kumaran is contributing to the development of this college.

The 242-acre college campus has a 170-acre agricultural farm, with 35 acres under paddy cultivation during the samba season. Also there are trees like guava, lemon, pomegranate, papaya. The above crops and trees are very helpful for the field training of the students. Vegetables, paddy, small grains and herbs are cultivated in 40 acres of organic farming.

Farmers are given training on organic farming at regular intervals. In the current year, 5 students have been taken to Kenya for management field training. The company is being set up to add value from the products of yellow chili pepper and other aromatic crops at Sivagangai Spices Park.

A women’s cooperative working in this college has set up a dairy farm and distribution of milk is going on through Aavin. 30 acres of golden paddy is planted in the college and all the rice available is being used in the student hostel. Admission is going on in this college. Contact: 98400 46587
