Dharmapuri: A male elephant died after touching a high tension power line near Kelavalli in Karimangalam circle of Dharmapuri district.

For the past few days, a male elephant has been roaming in the agricultural lands in Bikili village area of ​​Palakodu Forest Reserve. The forest department staff were engaged in trying to relocate this elephant in the forest. Last night (March 17) this elephant went to Campinallur area through Karimangalam area of ​​Paparapatti. The forest department has also followed the elephant. In this case, today (March 18) morning, this elephant tried to climb the lake bank in the V. Pallipattu area near Kelavalli next to Kampainallur and collided with the high voltage line that passed in the area. In this, the elephant died on the spot due to electric shock.

Last week, three elephants died after getting caught in an electric fence erected illegally on arable land in Maranda Alli near Palakod. Within two weeks of this incident, yet another elephant has died in an electrical accident, causing great sadness and anguish among animal welfare activists and environmentalists.
