Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’ Could Be Released in Two Parts
The highly anticipated action film, ‘Dhurandhar,’ starring Ranveer Singh, may not unfold in a single cinematic installment. As fans prepare for the first official trailer, reports suggest the filmmakers are strongly considering a two-part release for the ambitious project, a growing trend within the Indian film industry.
According to a recent report from Bollywood Hungama, the creative team is leaning towards presenting the story across two films. The first part, currently slated for a theatrical debut on December 5th, is expected to conclude on a pivotal cliffhanger, setting the stage for a continuation potentially arriving in 2026.
Director Aditya Dhar reportedly shot an extensive amount of footage, resulting in a narrative far larger in scope and length than initially planned. “The narrative reportedly shaped up so well that the makers are now exploring the idea of splitting it into two films to do justice to the scale, pacing and emotional impact,” one industry analyst noted. If finalized, the second installment of ‘Dhurandhar’ is projected for release in the first half of 2026.
The decision on whether to announce the two-part structure before the release of the first film, or reveal it at the conclusion of Part 1, remains uncertain.
‘Dhurandhar’ boasts an impressive ensemble cast alongside Ranveer Singh, including Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, and Sara Arjun. The film marks Aditya Dhar’s return to directing after the critically acclaimed and commercially successful ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ in 2019.
The teaser for ‘Dhurandhar,’ unveiled on July 6th – coinciding with Singh’s birthday – garnered significant praise and heightened anticipation for the project. A grand trailer launch event is scheduled for the following day, expected to be attended by the film’s star-studded cast. Notably, the trailer launch was briefly postponed out of respect following a security incident at the Red Fort.
The potential for a two-part release underscores the ambition and scale of ‘Dhurandhar,’ signaling a commitment to delivering a comprehensive and impactful cinematic experience for audiences.
