Thiruvananthapuram > Vice Chancellor Dr. VP Mahadevanpilla. The Vice-Chancellor wrote to the Governor on Tuesday stating that the decision to withdraw the nominees was illegal and should be cancelled.
The Governor sent a letter to the Kerala University VC on Saturday informing that 15 people who did not participate in the Senate meeting called by the Kerala University VC on the last 11 and who were his nominees are being withdrawn. The Governor’s unusual act of revenge was against the members who did not attend the Senate meeting that was held to suggest the representative of the University of Kerala to the search selection committee for the selection of the new VC.

G. Kumar Kumar P Chandrasekaran, Adv. G Muralidharan Pillai, Dr. P Asokan (SP Fort Hospital), Adv. The Governor’s decision was to withdraw the membership of B. Balachandran.
Four of them are ex-officio members. They had informed the reason why they could not attend the Senate meeting. So they cannot be withdrawn. The VC said that the principal secretary’s notice was not enough to remove the other 11. The letter states that the University Vice-Chancellor cannot take action based on the notification of the Governor’s Secretary and can only do so according to the document signed by the Chancellor. Those who have been disqualified are those who have taken legal action on leave. Therefore, the letter states that the action without seeking clarification from the members is illegal. The VC sent the reply by quoting the relevant court judgments.
