BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that belittling, disrespecting, belittling the founding chairman of BNP, Shahid President Ziaur Rahman, means denying freedom.

He made this comment while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting on Independence Day at Kakrail Engineering Institute in the capital on Wednesday (March 27).

Mirza Fakhrul said that in 1971 the declaration of independence was given by martyred President Ziaur Rahman. There is nothing to debate about this. Debating this would be debating the independence of the country. Those who argue, they are not the forces in favor of liberation war.

He said, those who gave their lives in the war of independence, those who participated in the war, the goal of everyone was freedom and democracy. This government has not done anything about democracy in 15 years but has used elections to stay in power. Even those who spoke of democracy were jailed.

Alleging that the government has divided the country into two parts, Fakhrul said, one is the Awami League and the other is the opposition party. Not only that, Awami League has also created racism. They are occupying the houses, shops and businesses of the opposition party leaders.

He said, multi-party democracy was established by our leader Ziaur Rahman. Even the caretaker government came to this country by the hand of national leader Begum Khaleda Zia. Everything that has happened for democracy has been done by the hands of our leaders.

Mirza Fakhrul said that the government has destroyed the judicial system today. The word of judgment cries out today. There is no justice in any part of the state. Therefore, in this state of the country today, the youth should wake up stronger. Our work will be to awaken people, to organize. Through this, we have been protesting against the fascist government for 15 years, to ensure the downfall of it. Remember, there is no substitute for struggle and movement.

Ziaur Rahman is not the announcer of independence – Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said in response to the discussion meeting president BNP Vice Chairman Major Ob. Hafiz Uddin Ahmed said, Ziaur Rahman announced the independence, who sent him the writing? Whose writing did he read? No one was found at that time in 1971. So, just talking politics will not work.

Major of. Hafiz said, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is a great leader. We respect him. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman did not declare independence when former Prime Minister Tajuddin Ahmad took the tape recorder. When the honor of the mother and sister was being robbed, no one took the field, the soldiers of the East Bengal Regiment came down.

He said that we are in the jungle of Africa in terms of mentality, what will happen with the bridge? This is not development. Where I can’t cast my vote. Where is democracy in the country today? For this democracy innocent people did the liberation war? But now the leaders and ministers of the ruling party are speaking loudly.

Urging everyone to unite, Major. Hafiz said that the country that has become independent through war, God willing, BNP will win. Democracy will win.

BNP Standing Committee member Dr. also spoke at the discussion meeting. Abdul Moin Khan, Vice Chairman Abdul Awal Mintu, Abdullah Al Noman, Chairperson Advisor Monirul Haque Chowdhury, Organizing Secretary Abdus Salam, Freedom Fighters President Ishtiaq Aziz Ulfat, General Secretary Ek Khan, Chhatra Dal General Secretary Nashir Uddin Nashir etc.
