With elections being held for a total of 490 municipalities in Tamil Nadu, the DMK has captured a total of municipalities in most districts. AIADMK has won in only 16 municipalities.
In terms of municipalities, the DMK has captured total wards in most places. In particular, the DMK has captured all the wards in Kallakurichi district, Vadakkanandal municipality, Coimbatore district, Irugur municipality, Odayakulam, Samathur and Suleswaranpatti municipalities.
The AIADMK has not won a single ward in these municipalities. Similarly, DMK candidates have won in Ayyampalayam and Wattalakundu municipalities in Dindigul district and in Koothaipar and Manachanallur municipalities in Trichy district and in all wards.
In Virudhunagar district Mallanginaru municipality has a total of 15 wards and DMK has won in all 15 wards. The DMK has settled 32 out of a total of 33 municipalities in the AIADMK’s stronghold of Coimbatore district. AIADMK has won only one seat in Vellalore municipality.
AIADMK has registered its victory in a total of 16 municipalities including Lakkampatti in Erode district, Marukur in Kanyakumari district, Mamalapuram in Chengalpattu district, Vadavasal in Salem district, Thisayanvilai, Thalainjayiru, Venkarai and Paravai. The DMK and its allies have captured the remaining 473 municipalities
