Doctors have solved the mystery of the death of actor and martial arts legend Bruce Lee at the age of only 32 in the summer of 1973.

According to The Sun, at the time, an autopsy revealed that the kung fu master had died of cerebral edema. Then the doctors explained this by the fact that the actor took painkillers. At the same time, the most incredible rumors began to circulate among fans that Bruce Lee was killed by Chinese gangsters or poisoned by a jealous lover. Someone even believed that he was cursed by a sorcerer.

But now, doctors who have studied the circumstances of the death of Bruce Lee have come to the conclusion that he could have died from drinking too much fluid due to hyponatremia. This is a condition when the concentration of sodium ions in the blood plasma falls below 135 mmol / l. In certain cases, this causes a redistribution of water from the blood plasma to the cells of the body, including brain cells. Then the person feels dizzy, confusion of thoughts begins, then numbness and coma.

“In other words, we speculate that the failure of the kidneys to excrete excess water killed Bruce Lee,” the researchers wrote in the Clinical Kidney Journal.

Doctors suggest that the use of marijuana, which increases thirst, led to this state of the athlete and actor. In addition, he took some medications that impair kidney function and combined this with alcohol, which is absolutely impossible to do.

The actor died just weeks before the premiere of Enter the Dragon, which was the first major western kung fu film.
