Documentary film aims to dispel the mysteries and myths of Blockchain technology

Adam R. Smith, a software engineer with more than 40 years of experience, reportedly became frustrated with the claims of his friends and associates about the potential of cryptographic technology and his subsequent losses of money in various schemes, and he set out to write a series of articles explaining what blockchain is and whether it lives up to its claims. This ended up becoming a passion project that produced an 84-minute documentary titled “Blockchain: Innovation or Illusion?

The film, which is currently playing at various film festivals, recently premiered online in its entirety on YouTube. relates to mainstream databases and technology, and how the cryptocurrency industry seems to rely more on coercive psychology than innovation. The film addresses a wide variety of topics, including “Is Blockchain Disruptive?”, “Is Decentralization Worth It?”, and explains how and why tokens, mining, and other blockchain-based elements work. ​on the blockchain, such as smart contracts and NFTs.

In the second half of the movie, Smith goes into specific claims and scenarios like, “Is Blockchain really immutable?” and “Can blockchain verify authenticity?” identify common issues like “The Oracle problem” and whether arguments like “Crypto helps bank the unbanked”

John Reed Stark, former head of the SEC’s Office of Internet Enforcement, he called Smith one of his favorite technologists and said the film was “spot on” in its characterization of technology.
