Dong-A Pharmaceutical announced on the 19th that it signed a business agreement with ‘Happy World with Animals (hereinafter referred to as Donghaeng)’, an animal rescue and protection company, to protect abandoned animals and promote adoption. The signing ceremony was held at ‘Balladang’, an abandoned animal adoption center run by Donghaeng. Key officials including Dong-A Pharmaceutical CEO Baek Sang-hwan and Dong-A Pharmaceutical CEO Choi Mi-geum attended.

According to the agreement, Dong-A Pharmaceutical plans to donate a portion of the proceeds from sales of the pet nutrition brand ‘Bepple’ to animal protection. In addition, ‘Dong-A Petner’ supporters, comprised of executives and employees, are planning to visit Balladang and volunteer to walk and bathe abandoned animals. We are also promoting the production of adoption content by taking photos and videos ourselves.

Dong-A Pharmaceutical plans to actively promote the adoption of abandoned animals by uploading content created by Donga Petner Supporters to its official social media (SNS) account.

According to the ‘2022 Companion Animal Protection and Welfare Survey’ announced by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the number of abandoned animals rescued in 2022 was approximately 110,000. Of these, animals euthanized due to lack of protective facilities accounted for 38.9% of the total.

Dong-A Pharmaceutical launched Bepple, a brand that helps manage pet stress and health in December last year. Through Bepple, Dong-A Pharmaceutical veterinarians and pet experts directly participated in the development and introduced nutritional supplements for dogs and cats.

Founded in 2011, Donghaeng is engaged in the business of rescuing animals in crisis from city foster shelters, providing health checkups at animal hospitals, and then finding new families. To date, over 2,000 dogs and cats have been adopted and placed with new families.

An official from Dong-A Pharmaceutical said, “We expect that this agreement will be an opportunity to protect animals that are indiscriminately abandoned together with executives and employees and to spread awareness about the adoption of abandoned animals.” He added, “We will continue to live healthy lives together in harmony with people and animals.” “We will support various activities that can help.”
