Telkomsel, a major⁢ Indonesian ​telecommunications company, has announced its plans to ‍expand its 5G network beyond Jakarta, reaching cities like Bogor, Tangerang, and Bekasi. ‍This move ⁤comes as the company aims to ensure ⁤equitable access to this advanced technology⁤ for all levels of society.

During his presentation at the⁢ 2024 Telkomsel Media Gathering event in South Jakarta, Telkomsel President Director Nugroho highlighted the importance of expanding the 5G network reach‍ to underserved​ areas. He⁤ stated, “Because in Jakarta, we also want to hold a large-scale 5G in Jabotabek inner and Jabotabek outer. We want ‍the experience to be felt‍ by the community.”

Nugroho‍ also drew a comparison between Indonesia and Thailand in terms of 5G network coverage. He pointed out ‍that while Thailand has a significantly higher 5G penetration rate, reaching 86% ​of the country, Indonesia still has room ⁤for growth.
