to supply most of its electricity consumption from renewable energy sources. Both agreements are for 10 years.

So what is so interesting about these two deals? First, let’s understand the numbers. Melisron has signed contract agreements with two companies that will provide it with most of its electricity consumption from renewable energy sources. Today, it owns approximately 870,000 square meters of commercial space and many offices. Therefore, it is considered one of the largest consumers of electricity in the economy, with an annual consumption of approximately 300 million kWh. How much does it cost her? About NIS 100 million per year. The scope of Melisron’s electricity consumption is expected to increase in the coming years for a simple reason: the scope of its activity is increasing.

Melisron CEO Ofir Sherid

Melisron took advantage of the Electricity Authority’s decision from last month, according to which electricity consumers will be able to purchase electricity directly from electricity suppliers that supply electricity produced through renewable energy facilities. She did a simple thing: she contacted such providers and signed an agreement. That is, it replaced the electricity company with renewable energy to save money.

The agreement means that Melisron will consume electricity from these companies starting in 2024 and in a phased manner. It will also be entitled to green certificates (IREC) for electricity consumption at its sites, within the framework of the aforementioned agreements.

Now, Melisron will be one of the first companies to consume green electricity and will save quite a bit of money (and also in air pollution). The agreement with Doral will give it 150 million kWh per year, which means half of its current average consumption. It will take most of the remaining consumption from housing and construction.

Doral currently owns hundreds of profitable facilities and is building the largest portfolio of solar energy projects in Israel combined with energy storage. To get proportions regarding the scope of the transaction, then the scope of electricity consumption that will be associated with Melisron as part of the transaction, constitutes about 10% of the total green electricity that will be produced in photovoltaic production facilities that Doral is expected to connect to the grid in the next two years in the State of Israel – 1 gigawatt combined with about 1.8 gigawatt hours of energy storage.

Itai Banyan, Vice President of Business Development at Melisron: “The global trend is moving in the direction of reducing carbon emissions and so is Israel. Melisron is a significant consumer of electricity, one of the largest in the country, and as part of the application of ESG principles we are happy and proud to lead a transition to energy consumption from renewable sources.”

Shai Dolev, Director of Energy Trading at the Doral Group: “This cooperation is an important step that establishes Doral’s position as the main player in the field of green electricity supply in Israel, this against the background of the electricity reform that will come into full effect next year, and it is the first swallow in a series of significant green supply transactions in which the company will call.”
