Southern Railway is going to set up drinking water treatment plants called RO at nine railway stations in Chennai-Tamil along with private participation.
Southern Railway is implementing various projects with private participation. Solar power generation, solid waste management and construction of green park are in progress.
In this case, as the summer season is about to begin, the Southern Railway is planning to provide drinking water facilities at the railway stations to meet the needs of the passengers.
In this way, Southern Railway has started the work of setting up drinking water treatment plants with private participation in a total of nine railway stations including Chennai Central, Egmore and Tambaram.

We are working to identify railway owned sites and develop them for commercial use and passenger amenities.

Meanwhile, we are going to set up drinking water treatment plants at nine railway stations namely Chennai Central, Egmore, Tambaram, Thiruvallur, Arakkonam, Katpadi, Avadi, Chengalpattu and Kanchipuram with the contribution of private individuals.
Drinking water treatment plants can be set up on behalf of willing public sector, private companies, large companies and voluntary organisations. Railway will provide water and electricity facility for this. Free drinking water will be provided to passengers.
