Sabari Kumar is working as a crime branch policeman at the Periyamedu police station in Chennai. He was on patrol at the suburban railway station in Chennai Central yesterday. Policeman Sabari Kumar interrogated a man who went there to drink tea. Policeman Sabarikumar seems to have been drunk at the time. At the inquest it was learned that the person was Javed from Pondicherry. Javed has arrived at the Central Railway Station to go to Delhi.
Policeman Sabarikumar Javit, who was drunk, asked for a walking ticket. I’m going to town. Claiming to have a ticket. However, policeman Sabari Kumar got into an argument with Javit, a drunken train passenger.
Amit Kumar Meena, Assistant Inspector, Railway Security Force, came to know about the incident. There was a stir as policeman Sabari Kumar got into an argument with him too. The Tamil Nadu Railway Police immediately took Sabari Kumar to the Central Railway Police Station.
There was a great commotion as he got into a drunken argument with the railway police who were there and made obscene remarks.
Tensions erupted when Assistant Inspector Gunasekara of the Railway Police, who was on duty there, pushed Sabari Kumar, an assistant inspector sitting in a chair, who was talking inappropriate words with policeman Amin, and spat at him.
Following this, the railway police informed the police control room. Upon receiving the information, the Periyamedu police arrived at the scene and took the intoxicated policeman Sabarikumar to the Periyamedu police station. Even then he disrespectfully scolded everyone and took his two-wheeler away saying “my brother is a lawyer I can do nothing, I will take care of whatever comes”.
A video of policeman Sabari Kumar arguing with a drunken railway policeman has caused a stir on social media. In it, Assistant Inspector Gunasekara of the Railway Police is reported to be involved in a drunken altercation with Constable Amin. Police also recorded a teasing act by Sabari Kumar while recording the incident on his cell phone.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Karthikeyan arrived at the Periyamedu police station this morning and is conducting a departmental investigation. He is keeping an eye on the video footage recorded on his cell phone. Policeman Sabari Kumar was asked to appear for questioning. But has not yet appeared for trial. An investigation is underway into what happened to the railway police.
