Dua Lipa Concert: Fans Line Up Early for Tomorrow’s Show

Dua Lipa Fans Camp Out in Mexico City, Ticket Resale Market Struggles

Mexico City – Dedicated fans have already begun gathering outside the GNP Seguros Stadium in Mexico City for Dua Lipa’s first concert of her “Radical Optimism Tour” in CDMX, with some even securing spots for the second show scheduled for Tuesday, December 2nd. The enthusiasm demonstrates a strong commitment from Lipa’s fanbase, though a surprising trend is emerging in the secondary ticket market.

Fans, many with tickets for the December 2nd performance – typically designated as “A” section – have proactively begun claiming prime locations, hoping to be as close as possible to the British singer. One attendee, a resident of Mexico City identified as Samiro Martínez, exemplifies this dedication, having camped out for previous artists he admires. “I love the experience of camping when they are general admission, then seeing the artist, meeting people,” he explained. “I did it for Dua when she came in 2023, for Billie Eilish, for Justin [Bieber], even when he wasn’t selling his VIPs for Premier Wicked – it’s always a good event.”

The dedication extends beyond the capital. Supporters like Javier, Alejandro, and Zaira traveled from Jalisco specifically to attend the concerts. The group expressed admiration for Lipa’s impact on the music industry and her genuine connection with her followers, particularly her efforts to learn Spanish. “Thank you for loving Latin America so much and for learning Spanish,” Javier shared. “She is an artist who truly embraces the Latin American public, something many others haven’t shown, but she has. We’d like to see more artists make that effort to show affection.”

Despite initial billing as “sold out,” reports suggest a different reality. Resellers operating outside the GNP Seguros Stadium are reportedly struggling with low sales. One reseller commented that tickets, currently offered between one thousand and two thousand five hundred pesos, should be priced higher – “This girl’s tickets should be five, seven varos, but no one wants them.” Merchandise vendors are also present, selling items like caps, t-shirts, glasses, thermoses, and blankets ranging from 200 to 800 pesos.

The discrepancy between perceived demand and the current resale market raises questions about the initial ticket distribution and the overall economic climate impacting concert attendance. While the core fanbase remains fiercely loyal, the broader market appears less enthusiastic than anticipated.
