Dubai Sports Council Honors Winners of 27th International Holy Quran Memorization Competition

Dubai: Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, honored the winner of the 27th International Holy Quran Memorization Competition in Dubai, Mohammed Al Amri, a student from Bahrain. Also the Best Islamic Scholar Award was given to Sheikha Hind Bind Makhdoom.

The 27th International Holy Quran Memorization Competition started on March 12 at the Dubai Al Mamzar Society for Culture and Science. Students from 70 countries including United Arab Emirates, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bahrain participated in this competition. The competition was designed to highlight the importance of the Holy Quran. Religious scholars from countries including UAE and Saudi Arabia participated as referees in this competition and selected the winners.

Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, awarded the first prize to Mohammed Al Amri, a student from Bahrain. The second prize was awarded to Naji Bin Suleiman from Libya and the third prize to Sheikh Dijan Ambi from Gambia. Prizes were awarded to the fourth to tenth place finishers. This made the contestants very excited. Consular officials from those countries congratulated them.

The Outstanding Islamic Scholar Award was presented to Sheikha Hind bint Makhtoom, wife of UAE Vice-Chancellor, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, for her Islamic, humanitarian and social work. Sheikh Zayed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum received the award on his behalf. And those who participated as referees for this competition were honored with mementos.
