Due to the impossibility of working, 1,710 business entities (40% of the total) have suspended their activities in Artsakh under the conditions of a blockade that has been ongoing for more than 9 months, and the rest have either actually been suspended or are operating in a very limited capacity.
According to Artsakh’s technical headquarters, about 17,000 people, which is more than 90% of private sector workers, have lost their actual jobs and source of income due to the blockade and disruption of vital infrastructure.
The construction works of 32.6 kilometers of roads, tens of kilometers of water lines, irrigation systems for thousands of hectares of land, 3,717 apartments, and more than 40 social and industrial infrastructures have been stopped.
During the blockade, the economy of the Republic of Artsakh suffered a loss of about 528 million US dollars, leading to the failure to provide about 58 percent of the predicted annual GDP index (903 million dollars).
