Kevin Durant was not far from his career high (55 points) when he scored 45 in Brooklyn’s 102:109 victory over Orlando. For the Durantola it was just a season high with 19 of 24 from the field, seven rebounds and five assists, but in real time he wasn’t even aware of it.
“I really don’t know,” he said Durant When asked about the season record, “I had games where I scored amazing in the warm-up and I had the worst shooting night in the game. Basically, if the head is in the right place during the game and also the game plan, then I feel that I have good games.”
Durant starred after settling for 31 points in a win over Portland and Nets coach, Jacques Vaughnsaid: “He just keeps doing what he’s doing. What he did in the previous game when he led us to victory was huge. It shows how he prepares his body and how he feels about the game. His attitude is: ‘We have to win’.”
Kristaps Porzingis also had an unusual night. The Washington star scored a career-high 41 points in a game where Danny Avdia settled for six along with six rebounds and two steals in a 127:142 win over Minnesota. “It feels good,” he said Porzingis whose previous record was 40 points, “I thought I wasn’t going to be able to break that because we were on our way to beating them by 30 and I might not have played in the fourth quarter.”
