The general director of the National Transplant Center (Cenatra), José Salvador Aburto Morales, indicated that one of the center’s commitments is to generate public policies to strengthen cadaveric donation, because it is more cost-effective.

The Secretary of Health of Nuevo León, Alma Rosa Marroquín Escamilla, said that the Organ and tissue transplants represent one of the best therapeutic options to save lives against chronic-degenerative diseases.

He stressed that this commemoration is an opportunity to provide information on the chronic diseases. Also to promote prevention through periodic medical check-ups, educate health personnel and raise awareness about the culture of organ donation.

The head of the Department of Nephrology and Mineral Metabolism of the National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition “Salvador Zubirán” (INCMNSZ), Rodolfo Rincón Pedrero, announced that the medical units that belong to the Coordinating Commission of National Institutes of Health and Hospitals of High Specialty (CCINSHAE) apply the “Medical care to patients with chronic kidney disease without social security” model. Through this program, services are provided to 1,700 people, of which 1,600 are adults and 100 are minors who live in the Metropolitan Area of ​​the Valley of Mexico.

The president of the Mexican Institute of Nephrology Research (IMIN), Bernardo Moguel González, recalled that, in the world, 18 percent of the population suffers from impaired kidney function and three million people receive hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.

Moguel González stressed that the efforts of the Health sector should focus on the prevention of chronic diseases. As an example, he said that 10 percent of patients with diabetes mellitus develop chronic kidney disease.

The specialist in Nutrition and Integral Well-being of the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Rocío Nayeli Jiménez Aguirre, mentioned that a balanced diet, physical activity, control of chronic diseases and avoiding the consumption of tobacco and alcohol reduce the risk of kidney damage.

The representative of Riñón de Plata Ripla, AC, Anabel Medécigo Fosado, explained that they are a link between kidney patients and public health institutions, education and private organizations so that they have attention and information on the care of the disease in its different stages. .
