The member of the RPA Executive Body, the former Deputy Minister of Defense referred to the recent statement of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, according to which peace is possible “if Armenia changes its constitution”.
In this regard, Artak Zakaryan stressed that no one would have dared to dictate such preconditions to Armenia during the administration of the previous presidents.
Aliyev said. “Peace can be achieved if the Constitution of Armenia and other documents are amended.”
This is a clear manifestation of Aliyev’s direct interference in the internal affairs of the Republic of Armenia, and to some extent blackmail, which is unacceptable from the point of view of international practice. This also shows how incompetent, pathetic and dependent the RA authorities are.
This statement of Aliyev alone is enough to stop discussing any issue related to the amendment of the Constitution in Armenia. There is no guarantee that this intervention to interfere with the sovereign decisions of Armenia will not be continuous and will not have other manifestations.
During the administration of Serzh Sargsyan, Robert Kocharyan, and Levon Ter-Petrosyan, neither Azerbaijan nor any other country could talk to the Republic of Armenia in such an unacceptable style and with preconditions.
And real, dignified peace in the region can be achieved in the following ways.
a) By changing the composition of the RA government and the quality of power,
b) uniting the society of Armenia and the Armenian Diaspora,
c) restoring all types of relations with the strategic ally Russia and developing them in many ways, building practical relations with natural allies in the region,
d) Making real efforts to develop the capabilities and combat capability of the RA Armed Forces,
e) pursuing a comprehensible, justified and consistent foreign policy,
f) instead of wasting existing resources, implementing realistic and ambitious programs for the actual development of the economy,
g) with active cooperation and complementarity of national political forces and pan-Armenian structures,” wrote Artak Zakaryan on his social media page.
