Telegram co-founder Pavel Durov said that temporary interruptions in the work of the messenger are associated with an “unprecedented load” on the European cluster amid the events in Ukraine.

“Due to today’s events, the European Telegram cluster is facing an unprecedented load. As a result, some users may experience intermittent short-term outages in a number of Telegram services. We understand that today people need reliable communication with their loved ones more than ever, and we are doing everything possible to maintain a high speed of sending and receiving messages, ”he wrote in his Telegram channel.

Earlier today, users of the Telegram messenger reported disruptions around the world. The peak of failures was recorded at 11:00 Moscow time, according to Downdetector data. 44% of complaints were about connecting to the server, 29% were about problems receiving messages, and another 28% were about problems with the application.

On the morning of February 24, Russia launched a military operation in the Donbass. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DNR and LNR), whose sovereignty Russia recognized on February 21 within the borders of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, asked the country for help. According to the head of state, Russia is not going to occupy Ukraine, but will strive “to demilitarize and denazify” this country.
