Düsseldorf – Karla, Pia and Katrin (all 32) have been inseparable since first grade. They used to play together, now they run a business together. In their boutique in Düsseldorf-Flingern they sell second-hand fashion and new clothes from sustainable labels.
“Since we were little, it has been our greatest wish to work together,” says Pia: “Over the years we have had a lot of ideas, but it was only for these that we were all passionate.”
Despite the corona crisis, the friends dare to take the step into self-employment. They finance the start-up capital for “Koko selected” from their savings.
“Some thought we were crazy to open a retail store during a pandemic. But we noticed that right now people finally want to go out and shop locally, ”says Karla. The three are not planning an online store.

Anyone who sells used clothing from them has a 40 percent stake. When it comes to new goods, they pay attention to the transparency of the manufacturer. “We check everything for sustainability. With Koko we have created a shop in which we would like to shop ourselves, ”says Pia.
Incidentally, there is never Zoff: “We discuss a lot, but we haven’t really argued yet. Probably because we’ve known each other for so long, ”says Karla. But maybe also because they spend their holidays separately from each other.
