Epic’s game store ends the year with a real celebration: the three games in the latest and most esteemed Tomb Raider series are available for free download for a week – starting today and January 6th.
This is in fact the second time that the Tomb Raider series has been “reborn”, and if you rely on the review scores it is probably the most successful attempt so far. The first game in the series, simply called “Tomb Raider”, was originally released in 2013 and brought with it an entirely new, darker and tougher approach, as well as an impressive and mature female character. Rise of The Tomb Raider, the second game in the trilogy, came out in 2015 and further deepened the plot and the world.
The third and final game in the series so far, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, arrived in 2018 with improved and particularly impressive graphics for its time, and still stands the test of time well. It is interesting to note that so far Rise of the Tomb Raider was the only game in the series that was available for purchase through the Afik store, and only now has the entire trilogy actually been completed.
Next year, Tomb Raider Reloaded, a free game for iOS and Android devices, is expected to be released. In addition, a cartoon series on the experiences of the protagonist Lara Croft is also expected to appear on Netflix, in an attempt to connect the plot of all the various trilogies of the veteran series, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
