Early voting in the Russian presidential elections began on Sunday in remote and hard-to-reach areas of the Far East.

Igor Shamrayev, Deputy Chairman of the Kamchatka Regional Election Commission, said that about 30,000 people will be able to vote early, adding that more than 120 polling stations will be opened for sailors and fishermen, including on board submarines carrying out combat service in the waters of the Kamchatka Peninsula and beyond. .
In neighboring Chukotka, more than 4,000 voters from remote, hard-to-reach areas will participate in early voting, and according to the head of the regional election commission, Nikolai Goncharov, members of local election commissions will arrive in those areas by helicopters and all-terrain vehicles.
Also in the Khabarovsk Territory, communication with a large number of remote residential areas is possible only by air.
Early voting will be available to about 12.9 thousand voters in Yakutia, about 15 thousand voters in Magadan and more than 5 thousand voters in the Amur Region.
The Russian Federal Council decided to hold the presidential elections on March 17, 2024, and the Central Elections Commission decided that voting would continue for three days, that is, on March 15, 16, and 17, making this the first presidential election in Russia to last three days.
