England’s popular cricket tournament ‘The Hundred’. This event is slowly getting known. Lolit Modi, the father of Indian Premier League (IPL), wants to exploit this event. Because of this, he made a tempting offer to the England Cricket Board (ECB) to buy ‘The Hundred’. But his offer of Rs 1,000 crore was rejected by the ECB.

The famous English daily The Teleraf has published a report. It is learned that Modi made a tempting offer to buy ‘The Hundred’ for 10 years. But the ECB did not want to jeopardize its friendly relationship with the Board of Cricket in India (BCCI). As a result, they did not offer Modi a huge amount.

According to the report, Modi’s representative met with ECB Director of Operations and head of ‘The Hundred’ Vikram Banerjee and CEO Richard Gould. He said that Modi had offered 10 years to buy ‘The Hundred’ and create a fund through private investment. However, the ECB is not proceeding with discussions with Modi.

Modi’s representative told ‘The Telegraph’, ‘We talked to several companies to invest in this competition. This competition of 10 teams could have reached a good place financially. The 100 ball competition is not getting much popularity. So we also proposed to change the competition to T20.’

It is reported that Modi’s proposal was that the parties of ‘The Hundred’ would be able to spend 1 crore dollars or about 83 crore rupees a year. IPL teams can now spend up to Rs 95 crore a year. Lolit proposed to turn ‘The Hundred’ into a Rs 1000 crore competition in 10 years.

Notably, Modi was banned for life in 2013 by the BCCI after alleging gross misconduct and indiscipline in bidding for two new franchises (Indian Premier League in 2010). Since then, Modi has left India and is living in London.
