Edappadi Palaniswami Condemns DMK and Advocates for Cauvery Water in AIADMK Meeting

by time news

AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami criticized the opposition DMK party for their handling of the Cauvery water issue during a consultative meeting held in Salem today. Palaniswami stated that if the DMK had imposed a condition on the Congress party regarding the need for Cauvery water, similar to how Kejriwal had imposed a condition for the opposition parties to participate in a recent meeting, then Tamil Nadu would have received the appropriate amount of Cauvery water.

The meeting, held on behalf of the AIADMK Salem Suburban District as part of the AIADMK Golden Jubilee Conference, saw Palaniswami discuss various issues with AIADMK executives. He expressed his sorrow and condemned the recent attack on a school student in Nanguneri, emphasizing his disappointment that such an incident could occur in an institute that aims to instill virtue in its students. Palaniswami stated that he blames the DMK government for the incident.

Regarding the Cauvery water issue, Palaniswami highlighted that the AIADMK government had obtained a permanent ruling from the Supreme Court, which mandated that the Karnataka government should release water belonging to Tamil Nadu every month. However, he accused the Karnataka government of deceiving Tamil Nadu by not respecting the Supreme Court’s verdict. Palaniswami mentioned that water was released from the Mettur Dam for Kurvai cultivation on June 12, but since then, the government has not paid due attention to ensure an uninterrupted water supply.

Palaniswami also questioned the actions of Chief Minister Stalin during a recent meeting in Bengaluru, where opposition parties formed an alliance for the parliamentary elections. He criticized Stalin for not imposing a condition regarding the release of Cauvery water to participate in the meeting, similar to how Kejriwal had imposed conditions regarding a bill on Delhi dignitaries. Palaniswami suggested that if Stalin had placed such a condition, the Cauvery issue could have been easily resolved. He accused Stalin of having no concern for the people and farmers of Tamil Nadu.

Palaniswami also expressed his disappointment with the opposition alliances, stating that they do not benefit the people of the country. He referred to Stalin’s promise to cancel the NEET exam once he comes to power, describing it as a false promise made solely for electoral gain. Palaniswami highlighted the AIADMK’s efforts to protect the rights of the people and farmers of Tamil Nadu during the Cauvery water issue, including the suspension of Parliament for 22 days.

In conclusion, Palaniswami criticized the DMK, accused TTV Dhinakaran of running the party through the media and press, and emphasized the need for the Tamil Nadu government to compensate farmers for the losses incurred due to the shortage of water in the Mettur Dam.
