Indonesian weightlifter Eko Yuli Irawan failed to secure a medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
jpnn.comPARIS – Despite legendary lifter Eko Yuli Irawan’s failure to win a medal, Indonesia still has a chance to claim a medal in weightlifting at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
For the first time in his illustrious career, Eko Yuli Irawan failed to bring home a medal from the quadrennial sporting event.
The 35-year-old lifter performed well in the lift during the snatch at South Paris Arena 8 in France on Wednesday evening WIB.
Eko’s best lift in the snatch was 139 kg. He finished second behind China’s Li Fa Bin, who lifted 143 kg.
He failed to replicate his previous Olympic achievements in the clean and jerk lift.
This result marked the first time in Eko’s career that he failed to win a medal at the Olympics.
Previously, the athlete from Lampung had won his first medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, claiming a bronze medal in the 56 kg class.
Indonesia still has a chance to win a medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics in weightlifting, despite Eko Yuli Irawan’s failure.
