The Minister of Security of El Salvador, Gustavo Villatoro, and his Guatemalan counterpart, Francisco Jiménez, held a working meeting at the Valle Nuevo Border of the neighboring country.

“To our Guatemalan friends, know that from the Government of President Nayib Bukele we are going to work to improve not only the border crossing, but also to strengthen all those areas to close the way to the bad guys,” said Minister Villatoro.

The bilateral meeting takes place within the framework of the beginning of the vacation period, a season in which many Salvadorans and Guatemalans leave and enter both territories. The two nations have specific security plans for the attention of tourists.

We have to create conditions for those who visit us, particularly if they are Salvadoran brothers, so that they feel in a context of security. Salvadoran tourism is the most numerous and is an important factor for the development of the tourism industry,” said the Minister of the Interior of Guatemala, Francisco Jiménez.

The previous year, the Las Chinamas border was the busiest; 101,407 travelers crossed this route alone that connects with Guatemala during the holiday season.
