The National Civil Police (PNC) announced that March 25 ended without registering any homicides throughout Salvadoran territory.

“We ended Monday, March 25, with 0 homicides in the country,” the police confirmed through their social networks.

These results add to the data provided by the president-elect, Nayib Bukele, who highlighted that El Salvador continues to stand out for its security, consolidating itself as the safest nation in the Western Hemisphere.

According to statistics provided by the German global platform Statista, El Salvador closed the year 2023 with a homicide rate of 2.4 per 100,000 inhabitants, which positions it among the 22 nations with the best security results.

2023 was consolidated as the safest year in the history of El Salvador, with a homicide rate significantly lower than in previous years, such as in 2015 when it reached 106.82 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants.

The international news agency “Visegrad 24” highlighted the historic reduction in the average number of murders in El Salvador as part of the results of the security strategy implemented by President Nayib Bukele.

“Five years after Nayib Bukele took power in El Salvador, the country now has the lowest homicide rate in the Americas. It went from 52 per 100,000 inhabitants in 2018 to 1.5 today,” said media published.

The PNC detailed that, after almost five years of the president’s administration, 574 days have been reported without homicides in the country, thanks to the Territorial Control Plan (PCT) implemented on June 20, 2019 and the exception regime approved by the Legislative Assembly. .

These security strategies have shown positive results, with a significant reduction in the daily average of homicides, which last year stood at 0.4 per day.
