Elon Women’s Golf Set to Conclude Fall Season at Edisto Island Invitational

The Elon University women’s golf team will compete in its final tournament of the 2025 fall season at the Edisto Island Invitational, hosted by the college of Charleston, from October 26-28. the competition will take place at The plantation Course in Edisto Beach, South Carolina.
Originally scheduled for 36 holes on Monday adn 18 on Tuesday, the tournament format has been adjusted to 18 holes each day – Sunday through Tuesday – due to anticipated inclement weather. Play will begin with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. ET on Sunday, with the Elon Phoenix paired alongside charleston Southern and Radford.
Tournament Details
The 54-hole tournament will utilize a 5-count-4 format. The Plantation Course, a par-71 layout spanning 5,980 yards, will challenge the 14 competing teams. Live scoring will be available via Scoreboard and Clippd.
Elon Lineup
The Phoenix will field a team comprised of Ashley Lafontaine, Annie wu, Kelly Zhao, Emma Hansen, and Sakura Kawakami. Lara Rieke will compete as an individual.
Senior leadership Key for Elon
Ashley Lafontaine and Annie Wu will once again lead the Elon lineup. Lafontaine currently boasts a team-leading strokes per round average of 73.90 through four events and 11 rounds this fall. She has secured a top-eight individual finish in three of those tournaments. Wu recently achieved her second consecutive top-20 finish, tying for 19th at the Terrier Intercollegiate, and has maintained an average of 76.27 shots per round. Notably, Wu finished fifth at the 2023 Edisto Island Invitational, earning All-CAA second team honors that season.
Momentum from Home Win
The Phoenix began the 2025-26 season with a significant victory, sharing the title at the Elon Invitational. Three Elon golfers finished in the top 10, and the team carded a 2-over-par 286 in the final round, tying with James Madison at 4-over (856) after 54 holes. This marked Elon’s first home tournament win since 2022. Emma Hansen, currently second on the team with a 75.72 strokes per round average,tied for fourth individually with a 1-under 212 and was subsequently named the CAA Co-Golfer of the Week.

Chris Dockrill, a 2014 Elon Sports Hall of Fame inductee and former All-American for the Elon men’s golf program, is in his 25th season leading the women’s golf program. He will be supported by first-year assistant coach LoraLie Cowart, who brings a decorated collegiate career from both Georgia and Georgia Southern to the Phoenix.
