Kyrgyzstan is aggressively pursuing a national digital currency strategy, simultaneously launching a stablecoin on the BNB Chain and preparing a central bank digital currency (CBDC) for rollout, with BNB notably included in the newly established ‘National Cryptocurrency reserve.’ The enterprising plan, announced by Binance’s Changpeng Zhao (CZ) on October 25, 2025, signals a critically important embrace of digital assets by the Central Asian nation.
Dual-Track Digital Currency Initiative
The most striking aspect of Kyrgyzstan’s strategy is the parallel progress of two distinct digital currencies.According to CZ,the nation’s national stablecoin is now officially live on the BNB Chain.Simultaneously, the country’s CBDC, known as ‘digital som,’ is “ready for rollout” and will initially facilitate government-related payments.

Binance Deepens Collaboration with Kyrgyzstan
The partnership between Kyrgyzstan and Binance extends beyond the launch of the stablecoin and the impending CBDC release. A key component of the initiative is the establishment of a ‘National Cryptocurrency Reserve,’ which includes BNB as a reserve asset. This demonstrates a clear vote of confidence in the cryptocurrency and binance’s ecosystem.
“We are proud to have connected EthSign with the Kyrgyz government,” CZ stated, adding that “EthSign has achieved great results.” EthSign provides electronic signature and smart contract infrastructure based on blockchain technology. CZ also revealed that his fund, YZILabs, holds a minority stake in EthSign, emphasizing a commitment to providing “real strategic value beyond simple financial investments.”
Expanding Blockchain education and Infrastructure
Kyrgyzstan is also investing heavily in the infrastructure and education necessary to support its burgeoning digital asset sector. Binance Academy has partnered with ten leading local universities to introduce blockchain education programs. Furthermore, regulatory compliance training is being provided to local law enforcement (LE) agencies.
The Binance app has been localized for the Kyrgyz language,and a recent meetup in the capital,Bishkek,attracted over 1,000 attendees,indicating strong public interest. This widespread engagement suggests a receptive environment for the adoption of digital currencies within the country.
