Since mid-December in Montreuil (Seine-Saint-Denis), twenty-five homeless women have been housed in a gymnasium provided by the municipality. Twenty-five camp beds have been placed on the playing field and the changing rooms serve as toilets. The place is open from 6 p.m. to 10 a.m. and will be available to them until the beginning of February.

“On weekends, it’s very hard for them to leave in the morning, because they don’t know where to go during the day. The day reception centers are closed,” says Nellma, mediator at Emmaüs Alternatives, the structure which manages the gymnasium. A small Christmas meal will be offered to them this Sunday evening because “they have no family, no friends”.
