“My goal for next year is to qualify for a Grand Slam. No matter weather through the rankings or the qualification. And at the end of the year top 100,” Engel stated in an ATP discussion on Monday.”It’s a big goal, but I see it positively and will do my best.”
The Next Gen Finals, held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, will mark a historic moment for German tennis, as Engel will be the first player from the nation to participate in the event. His opening match is scheduled for Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. local time, and will be against Belgian player Alexander Blockx.
Engel has set a clear target for his performance in Jeddah. “I’m enjoying it and I want to qualify for the semi-finals,” he said.
