European Cup: Stade Français misses out against Munster, Clermont and Toulon shine

The Parisians immediately understood that their⁣ first European evening of the season would not ‍be easy. Stade ⁢Français lost to Munster (33-7) this Saturday evening in Ireland. Trailing in the 16th minute and with a try from Thaakir Abrahams, Paul Gustard’s players were unable to come back. Thay even conceded a second try when they had numerical superiority after Alex Nankivell’s yellow card.

Outnumbered, it didn’t work out much better for⁢ the capital club. Narrowly‍ excluding second row Pierre-Henri Azagoh, ⁢alex Kendellen scored Ireland’s third try. The defeat could have worsened with a second red card, this time picked up by Baptiste Pesenti after an incomprehensible cathedral tackle, but the Parisians saved their⁤ attendance thanks to clément Castets‌ (59th).

Joe Marchant and co are not relaunching after their relapse‍ into the Top 14 last weekend in Bayonne (21-13). The Roses failed to capitalize on their gorgeous derby victory against Racing ‌92 ⁣(40-24). They ⁤will only return to the Top 14 on December 21st as the Champions‌ Cup continues ⁤next weekend, with Saracens’ arrival at Jean-Bouin.

Convincing‌ successes for Clermont and Toulon

previously, the other French clubs involved had ‍performed quite‌ well.⁤ Clermont disperses Trevigiano, without conceding ⁤a single point (28-0). ⁤Fiji’s Peceli ‍Yato ⁣and France’s Barnabé Massa each scored a brace against ‌the Italians. The ASM then secures the offensive bonus point. Toulon didn’t get that far, but RCT still won in South Africa against the Stormers (24-14).

Trailing at half-time, ⁤Toulonnais reacted in the second half before holding on late, despite Yannick⁤ Youyoutte’s sending off (72nd).⁤ the afternoon was less tender with⁤ Castres. Northampton’s English never trembled against Jeremy davidson’s troops (38-8). ⁤Castres are bottom of Group C, one place behind Stade ‍Français.
